1 Peter, 2

Commentary

In 1 Peter 2, the apostle Peter continues to encourage the believers to whom he is writing. He begins by reminding them that they are chosen by God and are a holy nation, a royal priesthood, and a people belonging to God. He then encourages them to abstain from sinful desires and to live a life of holiness and righteousness. He also reminds them that they are to be an example to the world, and to show the world the goodness of God. Peter then goes on to explain that Jesus is the cornerstone of the faith, and that those who believe in Him will be saved. He also encourages them to submit to the authorities, and to be respectful and obedient to them. He also reminds them that they are to be servants of God, and to do good works. Finally, Peter reminds them that they are to be patient and endure suffering, and to remember that Jesus suffered for them. He also encourages them to love one another, and to be kind and compassionate to those around them.
